Breastfeeding and Lactation Support

Bella Vida will work with you when and where it is convenient for you - meeting you at your home or on location to suit your needs.

Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultant will help you achieve your breastfeeding goals, and will provide an in-depth assessment of both mother & baby, including an accurate baby weight with our top of the line equipment.

We are the only private childbirth education business in Kingston that offers both prenatal education, postpartum care from moms who are also nurses and educators AND we offer breastfeeding support and lactation consults from our very own IBCLC.

Part of Keri’s role as an International Board Certified Lactation Consults is to:

  • Take a detailed health history of mother and baby
  • Take a detailed history of the mother’s birth and breastfeeding experience
  • Assess the mother’s breasts
  • Assess and weigh the baby
  • Observe mother and baby while breastfeeding
  • Assist with breastfeeding technique and positioning
  • Work with families to create a breastfeeding plan that will help you reach your breastfehttp://bellavidababy.ca/index.peding goals
  • Consults are $60/hour and usually take about 60-90 minutes You will be given a copy of the care plan developed during your consultation which serves as a reminder of our discussion, and can be shared with other health care providers that are involved in the care of mom and baby. Each consultation includes telephone and/or e-mail follow-up as appropriate. Further visits may be scheduled as required.

Bella Vida Baby offers a breastfeeding class, which is included as part of our prenatal series.

The course is also offered to couples for $60 a class within a group setting.

Bella Vida’s specialized breastfeeding course is also offered on a one-on-one basis at a location of your choice, for $60/hour for a 2 hour session.
